Leveraging AMD EPYC™ 9xxx Series Processors for intensive workloads
Dedicated Computing, a leader in embedded computing solutions for mission-critical applications, today announced the launch of the Katana™ K5710 (1U) and Katana™ K5720 (2U), the first platforms in a new series of commercial rack servers based on AMD EPYC™ series processors delivering enterprise and HPC-class performance for medical imaging, training and simulation, and other high-compute applications.
The Katana series expands Dedicated Computing’s portfolio beyond traditional long-life-cycle embedded platforms. These systems are purpose-built for customers seeking standard server chassis options with very high compute density, flexible GPU and I/O configurations, and accelerated deployment — without the extended lifecycle management model typically associated with regulated embedded systems.
As AI, virtualization, GPU consolidation, and high-bandwidth I/O become core requirements across industries, customers are increasingly looking for condensed, rack-optimized computing systems capable of supporting intensive workloads in a compact footprint.
“The Katana series represents a strategic expansion of our server portfolio,” said David Galus, Director of Product marketing at Dedicated Computing. “Our customers in medical imaging and training and simulation are expanding AI, GPU, and virtualization capabilities rapidly. They need standard rack servers with HPC-class performance and flexible I/O — and they need them now. Katana delivers that performance while leveraging Dedicated Computing’s integration expertise.”
Katana K5720: Scalable 2U Performance for Accelerator-Driven Workloads
The Katana K5720 is a single-socket 2U AMD EPYC™ 9004/9005-based server designed to accelerate application performance through GPU expansion and storage scalability. Supporting up to four single-slot or two double-slot NVIDIA® ProVis GPUs and up to 24 DDR5 DIMMs, the K5720 is engineered for AI-enhanced imaging, XR scene generation, simulation back-end processing, and virtualization workloads.
Its CPU and memory are configured in a front parallel design that enables efficient airflow and excellent thermal performance, optimizing the system for rack deployment. With right-sized rack dimensions and scale-up storage architecture, the K5720 meets demanding computing requirements while maintaining cost sensitivity for high-volume or price-conscious applications.
Katana K5710: Compact 1U Density for High-Performance Rack Environments
The Katana K5710 delivers similar enterprise-class capability in a compact 1U form factor. Also powered by AMD EPYC 9004/9005 series processors with support for up to 24 DDR5 DIMMs, the K5710 supports up to two single-wide or one double-wide NVIDIA ProVis GPUs. With PCIe Gen5 expansion options and flexible storage configurations, it is ideal for applications requiring high compute density in space-constrained racks.
Designed for performance-driven deployments, the K5710 enables GPU consolidation, virtualization, and AI inference within a standard 1U server profile — making it well suited for imaging back-end processing, classroom simulation racks, and compute nodes in distributed environments.
Commercial Performance, Purpose-Aligned
Complementing Dedicated Computing’s traditional long-lifecycle embedded platforms, the Katana series is positioned for customers who prioritize enterprise performance, commercial server standards, and flexible expansion. These systems expand the company’s established portfolio, giving OEMs and system integrators an additional path when application requirements demand high compute density without extended lifecycle constraints.
Both platforms support Windows and Linux operating systems.
The Katana K5710 and K5720 are available now.
